Fancy Having a go at mountain bike racing? Aged under 16?

British Cycling will be staging an action packed weekend of entry-level racing at the UCI Mountain Bike Cross-Country World Cup in Yorkshire's Dalby Forest.

Go-Ride Racing is British Cycling’s entry-level programme for riders under the age of 16, who are new to competitive racing. Over the course of the World Cup weekend young people visiting the event will be able to get their first taste of competitive action.

Go Ride Racing: Novice Level

Course: A course will be marked out within British Cycling’s Go-Ride Exhibition Area

Riders: All novice Under 16s welcome

Entry: Interested riders just need to visit the British Cycling stand in the expo at the World Cup Village, register their names and ride!

The race: Throughout the World Cup Weekend British Cycling will be hosting a series of free Go-Ride Races at the British Cycling arena in the Expo area of the World Cup Village. Races will take place hourly on Saturday from 10-4 and Sunday 11-1.

Go Ride Racing: Club Based

Go-Ride Club Demonstration Race Date and time: Sunday 22nd May, 09:15

Course: World Cup Start straight and Dixon’s Hollow

Riders: 10 of British Cycling’s Go-Ride clubs are entering teams of 4 x U14 riders

The race: Go-Ride clubs will compete in team relay race over eight laps of a short but challenging circuit of the final section of the World Cup course. The lap will include Dixon’s Hollow which features a series of berms and pump/rhythm sections before looping back into the main arena through the main event finish line. With such a short lap the pace will be high and teams will be fighting it out to have their moment of glory on the World Cup podium.

The Go-Ride Programmes

Go-Ride is British Cycling’s national development programme for young people and clubs. The programme aims to make the sport of cycling accessible to children of all ages, abilities and social backgrounds. Go-Ride provides a fun and safe introduction to the world of cycle sport and an opportunity to improve bike handling skills through coaching activities delivered by qualified coaches. There is a network of over 230 Go-Ride clubs operating throughout the country, plus many community coaching programmes, so getting involved couldn’t be easier.

Go-Ride Racing is British Cycling’s entry level youth competition programme designed to bridge the gap between school and club coaching and open regional competition. Developed in partnership with Sky, Go-Ride Racing aims to provide a real race environment for new riders to hone their skills and develop as a rider in a gradual and inclusive environment.

How do I find my local Go-Ride club?

British Cycling has a club finder database holding information about all our clubs. To find your local club please visit the Go-Ride page of the British Cycling website and click on the Club Finder tab and select Go-Ride Club in the club type to show all the clubs local to you.

What activities can I expect to do at my local Go-Ride club?

Go-Ride clubs are community based clubs that have regular coaching activities for young people. At your local Go-Ride club you will have the opportunity to develop your skills as a rider in a fun and safe environment. Many Go-Ride clubs also offer opportunities to experience the thrill of Go-Ride Racing and to develop practical skills through the CAYV programme.
